SLA stands for Super Large Arbor, and this is what distinguishes the Cabelas SLA from the competition: the arbor is huge. You will notice in the pictures all the air, the space, in the reel. This has to be one of the lightest reels in its class. However it is still strong with specifically engineered construction with emphasis on sound structure.

This is not our everyday reel but overall we do enjoy this reel, and pull it out on larger rivers and faster moving currents, when dropping under water wet flys.
